SCHOLARSHIP

The UP Scholarship Scheme includes Post-Matric Scholarships that support students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including BA LLB (5-year integrated program) and LLB (3-year program). The scheme aims to assist students from economically weaker sections and specific categories such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), General, and Minority communities.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the UP Scholarship for law students (BA LLB and LLB), candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. Domicile

    • The candidate must be a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
    • Students studying outside Uttar Pradesh may also be eligible under the Post-Matric Outside State category.

2. Course Enrollment

    • Must be enrolled in a recognized institution offering BA LLB (5-year integrated) or LLB (3-year) programs.

3. Category

    • Open to students from SC, ST, OBC, General, and Minority categories.
    • Specific scholarships may prioritize SC/ST or Minority students (e.g., Central Sector Scholarship for SC students).

4. Income Limit

    • The annual family income from all sources must not exceed:
      • Rs. 2,00,000 for General, OBC, and Minority categories.
      • Rs. 2,50,000 for SC/ST categories.

5. Academic Requirements

    • For fresh applicants, students must have passed their previous qualifying examination (e.g., Class 12 for BA LLB or graduation for LLB) with at least 50% marks (for General, OBC, Minority) or as specified by the institution, as per as amended ruling by government.
    • For renewal applicants, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress (typically 50% marks or as per institutional norms).

6. Other Conditions

    • Students must not be availing benefits from any other scholarship or financial aid scheme (e.g., state-run fee reimbursement or other central scholarships), unless explicitly permitted.
    • Candidates must have a valid bank account linked to Aadhaar for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Types of Scholarships Applicable

Law students can apply for the following scholarship categories under the UP Scholarship Scheme and related central schemes:

1. UP Post-Matric Scholarship

    • Covers students pursuing BA LLB, LLB, and other undergraduate/postgraduate courses.
    • Provides financial assistance for tuition fees, non-refundable fees, and academic allowances (e.g., books, stationery).

2. Central Sector Scholarship for SC Students

3. PM-Vidyalaxmi Scheme

    • A central government initiative providing collateral-free and guarantor-free education loans to meritorious students at top institutions, including NLUs.
    • Students at recognized institutions like the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) or other NLUs in UP (e.g., RMLNLU, Lucknow) are eligible.
    • Covers tuition and other academic expenses.

4. NEC Merit Scholarship

    • Offered by the North Eastern Council for students from northeastern states studying in UP (if applicable).
    • Provides a stipend of Rs. 20,000 annually for undergraduate law programs (e.g., BA LLB).
    • Income limit: Family income not exceeding Rs. 8,00,000 per annum.

Application Process

To apply for the UP Post-Matric Scholarship, follow these steps

1. Registration

    • Visit the official UP Scholarship portal: scholarship.up.gov.in.
    • Register as a new user by providing details like name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID.
    • Keep the registration slip for future reference.

2. Login and Application

    • Log in using the registration number, password, and date of birth.

3. Document Requirements

      • Aadhaar card
